This half term we have been exploring our local habitats, looking at food chains and discovering what mini-beasts live in the year 2 garden. This science topic allowed the children to explore nature and understand that even a damp rotten log can be a home for lots of little creatures. The children have created lovely dioramas showing a chosen large habitat and produced some amazing bug hotels out of recycled materials. Well done year 2 for becoming one with nature as we explored this very interesting topic!

The children have had the most amazing day in FS learning about dinosaurs! They were amazed that a dinosaur got into our outdoor classroom! They created play dough dinosaurs, investigated ice eggs and footprints and did some truly wonderful artwork!

As we couldn’t get up to Forest School today, we still decided to go out and be ‘Stewards of the Earth,’ and do some litter picking in our local community and school grounds. We had a great morning, working together using the litter pickers, being litter spotters and even jumping in a few muddy puddles! The children were so good we even had time for a snack and story in our Jubilee Garden!

What fantastic ‘Stewards,’ they are!

Key Stage One were the first to enjoy Sports Day this year. We had glorious weather for our morning of throwing, dribbling, jumping, sprinting and cheering on our teams.

The children showed excellent team spirit as they tried to win points for their house teams. The winning house this year was the house of JOHN!

Thank you to all of the parents, friends and family members who came to cheer us on.

Year 3 were very lucky to have Gordon help out on our KS2 Sports Day. We had great fun and enjoyed the sunshine. Thank you to Mrs Bolger for adding to our photos of a lovely afternoon. Can you spot our future Olympians?

Congratulations to all the children (and parents!) who took part in the Foundation Stage Sports’ Day. There was a lovely, fun and supportive atmosphere as the children made their way along obstacle courses, balanced beanbags and took part in welly wanging.

The children in the Foundation Stage were really happy to meet Barney the Parrot.  Jodie kindly brought him in to enhance our Pirate topic, although I don’t think Barney has ever sat on a pirate’s shoulder!

We found out that he is an African Grey Parrot, loves playing with his toys and has sunflower seeds for a treat.  He also showed off his acrobatic skills.

Thank you for visiting us Barney.

Year 3 have been asking the Key Question ‘Should Emperor Claudius Invade Britain?’ We looked at all the reasons For and Against leaving sunny Italy to come to Britain. The children acted as Advisors to Claudius. Finally, we had a Conscience Alley to make our final statements.

They had to break this code…

If WCI is Why Claudius Invaded, what does this mean?

WCI = L+ S + C + M+ F+ ?   (Hint: L = Land)

Can you remember or work out the rest?

Here are the songs for the 2025 Musical!

Well done to the Year 2 Celebration of the Word team and the two team guests from Foundation Stage One – they spoke clearly and proudly to guide us through our understanding of the word ‘Vocations’. One child explaining:

‘Vocation is God’s plan for you’
