In DT this term, Year 6 have been learning about Complex Circuits and applying our Science knowledge of electricity. We created an alarm system, which lights up a warning light and sounds a buzzer, when an avalanche hits the microswitch. We planned, designed and built a circuit using a buzzer, bulb and microswitch and designed a mountain for the avalanche to fall from. Take a look at our final creations!
Year 6 had an amazing time at The Briars! Their mission during their stay was to become ‘Agents of Love’ and complete tasks to earn this status. They learned how to be independent, responsible and how to work as a team. Year 6 prepared liturgies, lead a Mass and went on a VERY muddy walk. Take a look at their pictures below…
We know all the parents and families will be so proud of the wonderful performance put on by all the children in the Foundation Stage. Well done to everyone for making our hearts melt and truly bringing Christmas joy.
At Forest School this week, the children were brilliant at finding sticks and talking about them. They said they were: STRAIGHT, CURLY, CHUNCKY, THIN, BUMPY, LEAFY, SPIKY, LONG, SHORT and SMOOTH.
It was great to see how confident, collaborative and ‘at home’ they were in the wonderful outdoors.
On the 11th November, our Celebration of the Word was in honour of Remembrance Day. We used it as an opportunity to explore the importance of Poppies. The children used watercolours to recreate their version of this beautiful flower. Some wonderful results…
This week, the children strengthened their muscles by working with clay and then using natural materials to create creatures that might live in the wood. Of course, there was also time to climb and explore with friends.
We are so pleased to report that all the teddy bears (and snakes, dogs, cats etc) were feeling much better after their visit to the doctors from the Teddy Bears’ Hospital.
The children showed excellent communication skills (and confidence) talking to the unfamiliar adults and joining in with activities to help them learn about hospital visits, exercise, dental hygiene, emotions and mental health.
Here’s the Music for Year 3’s Nativity. Practise with the words and the sing-a-long version first, then start singing along to the backing tracks with your words to see if you have the timings right.
Finally, sing without the words to the backing track – then you will be ready and confident to sing in front of an audience!

Year 3 spent some time exploring playscripts and their layout in order to identify key features. What better way to do that then to actually perform one?
Working in groups, they organised themselves into different roles and then used the stage directions to ensure actions and dialogue were accurate.
They were then able to use these features in their own plays, a ‘Revolting Rhymes’ style version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Some fantastic playscripts were produced because they worked so well together. Great work Year 3!
