We all had a fun time enjoying The Croods, eating popcorn and sweets and drinking squash. It proved to be very popular and raised lots of money for our new music area.  This area will start to take shape soon and the children will be able to enjoy exploring sounds.

Thank you for supporting us whilst we create this new learning zone and a particular thank you to Conor – Mrs Hudson’s brother for creating the Music Wall.

Year 3 had a lovely time with the ducklings this week. We practised our skills as scientists and artists by making observational sketches. Looking closely at their markings, their webbed feet and eyes. This led to a great discussion about adaptations in animals. A really fun afternoon with some great work produced.

The children (and staff!) loved watching the ducklings – although we did get a bit wet as they liked splashing, swimming and jumping around.

Mrs Maylard-Mason treated the Jubilee Room to a visit from BRW’s ducklings! The children watched the ducklings swim and got to hold them. The children worked hard on their listening skills and followed careful instructions, to keep themselves safe and the ducklings safe.

As we begin our Summer Term, Year 3 led the Resurrection Liturgy for the whole school and families today. They did a wonderful job in spreading the Good News, that God loves you and Jesus is always with us. The led us in prayer, meditation and joyful song.

Remember your mission? Create a poster telling people about the wonderful news, and stick it in a window to share with the world.

Year 6 have been putting their faith into action this Lent term, but raising money for our Lenten Fundraiser.

They have donated money for special treats like doughnuts, popcorn and hot chocolate! Year 6 have also been working incredibly hard to complete their Walk for Lent fundraiser, and have surpassed their target. They are currently on lap 78 and they hope to get a few more in, before the end of term.

Year 5 had a wonderful time with our visitors this week for a Maya Day. We made (and tasted) hot chocolate as the Maya would have made, investigated some artefacts, chose a Maya name and wrote it in Glyphs and rediscovered the ancient sport of Pok- a – Tok!

Year 3 really enjoyed a daily dose of Science this week, during British Science Week! As we’re learning about skeletons and muscles, we combined out daily Sponsored  Lenten Walk with a warm-up to some investigations.

We wanted to see if taller people have longer bones, so as well as measuring height, we measured leg length, fingertips to wrists and head circumference!

Another investigation, we explored was seeing if regular exercise or activity impacted on muscle strength. You will have to ask our resident scientists if you want to know more about our results!
