Year 6 have been putting their faith into action this Lent term, but raising money for our Lenten Fundraiser.

They have donated money for special treats like doughnuts, popcorn and hot chocolate! Year 6 have also been working incredibly hard to complete their Walk for Lent fundraiser, and have surpassed their target. They are currently on lap 78 and they hope to get a few more in, before the end of term.

FS children had an amazing time at Nottingham Castle in the sunshine. They noticed similarities and differences within our local environments; used a spotter sheets to look for clues within the Art Gallery; noticed floral prints and drew these; tried on a range of hats and finally had a wonderful time playing on the Adventure Playground – bringing our castle topic to life!

What a busy day they had!

The FS children loved exploring the woods today. They used their senses to look and feel the different trees – looking at the different shapes, sizes and patterns on them. They also spotted some first signs of Spring, finding daffodils, ladybirds, bumble bees and butterflies.

Year 5 had a wonderful time with our visitors this week for a Maya Day. We made (and tasted) hot chocolate as the Maya would have made, investigated some artefacts, chose a Maya name and wrote it in Glyphs and rediscovered the ancient sport of Pok- a – Tok!

The EYFS children have completed The Big Lent Walk 2025, walking 24 laps of the playground collectively to raise money for CAFOD. The children loved Big Walk so much, they even wanted to do more! Well done EYFS!

Year 3 really enjoyed a daily dose of Science this week, during British Science Week! As we’re learning about skeletons and muscles, we combined out daily Sponsored  Lenten Walk with a warm-up to some investigations.

We wanted to see if taller people have longer bones, so as well as measuring height, we measured leg length, fingertips to wrists and head circumference!

Another investigation, we explored was seeing if regular exercise or activity impacted on muscle strength. You will have to ask our resident scientists if you want to know more about our results!

Our Super Science Ambassadors kick started this year’s British Science Week by leading a whole school assembly. We began with learning a little about our Science saint – At. Albert the Great, and read a prayer that previous ambassadors wrote. They shared the theme, which is ‘Adapt and Change’ and links to our own lives that we can make with science. They launched the Poster competition and all week have been running ‘The Gadget Shop’ which will continue this week, or until all stock is sold! Prices range from 50p to £2. Itemised lists with prices are posted around the school.

The children enjoyed walking up to Forest School, exploring the woods and noticing the similarities and differences in the environment. They also loved retelling and acting out the Jack and The Beanstalk Story as they climbed trees

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed a week of celebrating books! We love to read and we made sure that there were lots of opportunities to read our favourite books and discover some new ones too.

One World Book Day, the children dressed up as their favourite characters or ready for a bedtime story in pyjamas. We wrote about our favourite stories and some children visited the reading care with their adults.

The children waited patiently for a mystery reader to visit us with a special story. On Friday Mrs Bathgate read Room on the Broom to us. She choose this story because Year 1 have been taking part in yoga sessions linked to this book.

What a wonderful week!
