YEAR 6 CAROLS AROUND THE TREE
Our focus this term in music has been to practice our harmony skills. We have worked towards a poignant carol that we finally performed at Carols Around the Tree last week. Listen carefully and see if you can hear when the harmony kicks in!

It was a challenge not to be put off by the other half, but we performed brilliantly on the night!

Wind Through The Olive Trees

Hello Year 5, below is the lyrics and song to our Carols Around the Tree celebration… Elton John – Step into Christmas.

Ensure you know all of the words, ready to perform on Thursday 15th December.

Elton John Step Into Christmas Lyrics

Congratulations to Year Two who blew their audiences away with an outstanding performance of ‘Away in a manger’.

Their comic timing, enthusiasm and beautiful singing brought real joy to their audience – well done Year Two! You are all superstars!

Stanley the dog returned to listen to more stories and poems, and, of course, he was VERY WELL looked after. The children gave him so many strokes and cuddles, took him for walks outside and made him lots of drawings of himself!

CAROLS AROUND THE TREE

Our ‘Carols Around the Tree’ event is back! Here are your Year 6 songs to learn – we get to sing two songs. Keep it hush hush so the performance is a brilliant surprise! And you have your own copy of the lyrics! Make sure you know them off-by-heart!

MOUNT COOK MADNESS!

Years 5 and 6 braved the wind and rain last week to conquer Mount Cook, an adventure site that offered plenty of opportunities to go outside of their comfort zones, grow as individuals, stand firm and show BRW Spirit!

Though the heavens opened for most of the day, Years 5 and 6 remained resilient and positive throughout, with many conquering their fears when climbing to the top of high-ropes, jumping from the platform and map reading when orienteering!

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK 2022

What a week! Year 6 have embraced Anti-Bullying week this week. We have been learning specifically about Cyber-Bullying: what it is, how to identify it, and what to do if we experience or witness it. We have some effective strategies now in order to stay safe and happy online in our Digital World.

On top of this, we have been led beautifully by our Hosue Captains, who have reminded us of our BRW spirit by sharing the STOP acronym: Bullying is emotional or physical harm caused by the perpetrator ‘Several Times On Purpose’ and if we know it’s happening, we must ‘Start Telling Other People’. Thank you House Captains!

KS2 Advent Sing-Along!

Years 4, 5 and 6, welcome to the ‘Advent Rehearsal’ blog! Click on each song and start singing! Try it without your lyrics in front of you when you’re ready. Sing so much and so passionately that even your family know the songs! Let’s make our Thursday 1st December, 5.30pm performance one to remember. It has been a long time since we have been able to celebrate together! #BRWSpiritStrong

The King, The Light, The Wonder

The children found out more about and then, hunted for, minibeasts, as well as climbed trees, ran through the long meadow grass and shared a snack – it was a lovely, peaceful morning with friends.

Year 3 enjoyed their Royal Jubilee Themed Sports Day this week, along with the rest of KS2. From such events as ‘The Queens Obstacle Race’ ‘Her Highness Hurdles’ and ‘Royally Good Sprint Relay’ to name but a few, spirits were high as the children tackled standing jumps, discus and javelin. What a great afternoon!
