This week, we continued our search for ladybirds, but also successfully hunted for snails, woodlice, slugs, spiders and worms.  As you enjoy our photographs of Forest School, you will notice how focused the children are, how they help each other and how much fun they have playing and exploring together.

It was a beautiful, holy way to start our Friday. We joined parishioners and parents to celebrate Mass together. Children from Year 1 and Year 2 confidently and clearly led our bidding prayers and all the children joined in with the singing of ‘It’s Me that Builds Community’ song – with actions, of course!

Going to Forest School this week was also like entering a jungle! Big thanks to the parent helpers who bashed down brambles and cut down nettles to create a safe pathway for the children.

It was worth the effort to see all the children exploring independently – looking for minibeasts, climbing trees and playing with friends. They also learned some facts about ladybirds. Did you know they:

  • have 6 legs, just like all insects
  • have a shell that opens out to be wings
  • can be different colours (not just red!)
  • eat aphids
  • lay eggs

We just want to say thank you to everyone who has filled in stars and/or created model space rockets, space stations, satellites, aliens or planets. They are truly amazing – in fact, we think they are ‘OUT OF THIS WORLD’. Our classroom looks wonderful and, most importantly, the children are very proud of their work and love talking about them with friends.

There was brilliant balancing, wonderful welly wanging and riotous racing at our Sports’ morning. Here are some photographs to make you smile.

Year 3 spent the day totally immersed in numbers on National Numeracy Day. We started the day with a very interesting guest speaker – a paralegal from Capital One, who told us all about her Maths journey. The children came up with some great questions. Then Year 3 learnt all about money and banking. We spent some time examining a bank statement to understand what it all meant. We then discovered that dancers also use number – and we learned a great dance routine with ‘Strictly’ dancer Katya (which got faster and faster!)

We had a quick revisit of French numbers in the afternoon, and some of us got to go to the Big Number Natter Cafe. We got to enjoy dressing up as people who work with numbers or number-related outfits.  What a fantastic day we had.

Ahead of our Music Evening on 21st May, below are the tracks and lyrics for Year 4 and 5’s choral singing performance! This will showcase the hard work they have been putting in with Mr Davis, learning traditional hymns and mass parts. Use this page as a resource to practice that fantastic singing of yours!

The FS children enjoyed taking part in a Little Liturgy to celebrate Jesus’ Ascension into Heaven. They joined in with prayer, singing with actions and reflecting on the Good News Jesus has risen. They also joined in with the Lords Prayer with Makaton signs.

It was wonderful this morning to celebrate Mass in our church with Father David, parents, carers and parishioners. The children who took part with readings, prayers and poetry were confident, thoughtful and precise and, as for the singing, it was glorious, powerful and brought joy to our hearts.
