The Rainbow Fish children used some wonderful counting and problem solving skills during our Counting Collections sessions. They counted amounts of objects over 10, using different strategies to help them – they even changed their strategies if it wasn’t working!
What a lovely day to be at Forest School – the sun was shining and the children were well-wrapped up against the morning frost.
They proved to be great map-readers, finding their way to the base, noticing houses, paths, a school, grass and, of course, lots of trees on the way.
They had time to play and explore before enjoying a warming cup of hot chocolate and a biscuit. They finished their morning with a game of hide and seek.
The Foundation children all looked amazing in their ‘castles,’ themed outfits. We had, knight’s, princesses, princes galore! They enjoyed completing lots of different activities throughout the day such as building castle, designing crowns, comparing dances throughout the ages, but were absolutely amazed when Princess Sparkles visited and set them a challenge! They had such a magical day in FS!
We know all the parents and families will be so proud of the wonderful performance put on by all the children in the Foundation Stage. Well done to everyone for making our hearts melt and truly bringing Christmas joy.
At Forest School this week, the children were brilliant at finding sticks and talking about them. They said they were: STRAIGHT, CURLY, CHUNCKY, THIN, BUMPY, LEAFY, SPIKY, LONG, SHORT and SMOOTH.
It was great to see how confident, collaborative and ‘at home’ they were in the wonderful outdoors.
This week, the children strengthened their muscles by working with clay and then using natural materials to create creatures that might live in the wood. Of course, there was also time to climb and explore with friends.
We are so pleased to report that all the teddy bears (and snakes, dogs, cats etc) were feeling much better after their visit to the doctors from the Teddy Bears’ Hospital.
The children showed excellent communication skills (and confidence) talking to the unfamiliar adults and joining in with activities to help them learn about hospital visits, exercise, dental hygiene, emotions and mental health.
This was a wonderful joint celebration with children from KS1 and EYFS leading their friends through prayer, song, dance, time to think and talk, meeting together with Jesus, getting to know his friendship even more.
The children in FS have had a fun morning playing in the snow; building snowmen, throwing snowballs, investigating foot and hand prints and ‘having the best time ever!’
We are very proud of all the children who took part in our wonderful show today. They showcased drumfit, poetry, songs, dough disco and were amazing with their confidence, loud voices and musical talent. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets to help us raise money for new musical instruments.
