Our Governors

The aim of the Governing Body is to help the academy provide the best possible Catholic education for pupils.

They operate at a strategic level with 3 core functions to monitor:

  • The Catholic life of the school
  • Standards (attainment, progress, curriculum provision)
  • Pastoral care and welfare of the pupils (including safeguarding)

We currently have a local governing body which comprises of:

Three Foundation Governors, appointed by the Bishop of Nottingham and Two Parent Governors, elected by parents to act as a representation the parents of the governing body

Our Head Teacher is required to attend all LGB Meetings

It is a requirement that Schools publish information on websites with regard to Governor attendance to Local Governing Body meetings and if our Governors have any Business and Pecuniary Interest.

Please see the table below:

Hello, I am Les Sullivan, the Chair and a Foundation Governor at Blessed Robert Widmerpool School.

I live in the parish of Corpus Christi with my wife and have a strong link to the Our Lady of Lourdes CMAT.  I have had the privilege of having my 3 children all pass-through Catholic Education here at Blessed Robert Widmerpool and then at The Becket School.  My wife and I have also been Foster Parents to 35 other children.

I am retired from full time work but do lots of things that help the local and wider community. However, before retiring, I first worked in the public sector, commencing my working life as a Research and Development Engineer for the government. A complete change in careers then took me into the financial sector as a Business Banker for one of the main banks in the UK.

In 2003, I was elected a Parent Governor and then became a Foundation Governor and Chair at The Becket School. Following this, in 2018 I became a Board Director for the Our Lady of Lourdes CMAT in the Diocese of Nottingham. As a Director of the Board, I was the Director for Standards as well as Safeguarding, where I had a cross section working with both primary and secondary curriculum, working with Headteachers and Governors.

In my spare time I like walking, playing chess, pretending to be a chef and most of all enjoying family life.

Hi, I am Teresa Shelton-Bourke, the Vice Chair and a Foundation Governor at Blessed Robert Widmerpool School.

I live in the parish of Corpus Christi with my husband.  I have had the privilege of having my 2 children both pass-through Catholic Education here at Blessed Robert Widmerpool and then at The Becket School. I am a full-time school Business Manager at two Primary Schools in Clifton and also do various things that help the local and wider community. I help Mrs Kennelly and Father Wilfred with the first holy communion programme, I also help Father Wilfred and Miss Boott to run the RCIA programme.  I help with the church fayres, and I am also a bell ringer at Corpus Christi church (or try to be)

This is my first time being a governor outside the schools I work in, and I hope to support the fantastic work that is carried out every day at Blessed Robert Widmerpool.

In my spare time I like walking, enjoying family life and travelling.
