Our Super Science Ambassadors kick started this year’s British Science Week by leading a whole school assembly. We began with learning a little about our Science saint – At. Albert the Great, and read a prayer that previous ambassadors wrote. They shared the theme, which is ‘Adapt and Change’ and links to our own lives that we can make with science. They launched the Poster competition and all week have been running ‘The Gadget Shop’ which will continue this week, or until all stock is sold! Prices range from 50p to £2. During our World Book Week in Year 3, we enjoyed spending extra time with books! Our class librarians helped lead an assembly and also read to the Year 2 class. We welcomed the Year 6 librarians reading to us. We read and wrote about Paddington as part of Our Whole Class Reads. The children were delighted that our Mystery Reader was Jodie, who read…Paddington at the Zoo. Of course Thursday was our favourite day, when we all got to dress as a Word or a book character…didn’t they look brilliant! The day ended with us trying to be just like MC Grammar, and write our own book inspired raps – which were amazing!

Year 3 have been very busy working on their writing skills. Having read ‘The Sheep-pig’ by Dick King-Smith we set about writing a persuasive argument as to why Farmer Hogget should train Babe the pig, to become a Sheep-pig. They have done a brilliant job, lots of persuasive techniques and thoughtful word choices have made some brilliant pieces of work .If you were Farmer Hoggett, would you be convinced?

Year 3 were our Nativity Super Stars! We joined the stars of the Celestial Choir as they guided our Nativity characters to Bethlehem singing some not-so-traditional, up-beat songs with a ‘showbiz’ feel. They were all ‘Fab-u-lous’!

It was a wonderful celebration of what Christmas really means and how we can all let our light shine to reflect Jesus. Our gift to our parents. Merry Christmas Everyone!

On the 11th November, our Celebration of the Word was in honour of Remembrance Day. We used it as an opportunity to explore the importance of Poppies. The children used watercolours to recreate their version of this beautiful flower. Some wonderful results…

Year 3 spent some time exploring playscripts and their layout in order to identify key features. What better way to do that then to actually perform one?

Working in groups, they organised themselves into different roles and then used the stage directions to ensure actions and dialogue were accurate.

They were then able to use these features in their own plays, a ‘Revolting Rhymes’ style version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Some fantastic playscripts were produced because they worked so well together. Great work Year 3!

Year 3 are enjoying learning about Rocks! We have spent some time making close observational drawings of them and looking at different type of rock features. We have also started a good collection of our own in the classroom. Rock on Year 3!

Last week, Year 3 spent a Stone Age day at Brackenhurst Education Centre. They had a fantastic time doing a whole range of activities. In the morning, we walked out to the woods and sat around the camp discussing the different eras. Then we used tools to saw and drill wooden medallions, painted walls like Early Man did and also built animal enclosures to keep our animals in.

After a well-earned lunch, we decorated out medallions, made clay pots and oh yes….recreated Stonehenge! Have a look…

Some of our children were chosen to lead the KS2 Liturgy this week, and they did an amazing job. They wrote some beautiful prayers and reflections, and with some help from Y6 and Ruth, led us all in a beautiful Liturgy.
